The Texas State Plan for Deaf Education, 2007

Texas Education Code §30.083 requires the development of a “comprehensive statewide plan for educational services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.” In response to this requirement, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) formed a committee of stakeholders to develop a child-centered and family-focused plan that is based on student results. The work of the committee began in March of 2006 and is intended to be a continuous improvement process.

Below is the link to the statewide plan. The committee will continue to meet at least annually to address the needs of students who are deaf and hard of hearing in Texas. It is our goal to keep this plan closely related to the National Agenda document which was developed by the National Deaf Education Project (NDEP). For more information on the work of the NDEP, please visit http://www.ndepnow.org/.
