The Texas Education Agency has a reduction target of more than $260 million for the 2012-2013 biennium. The priorities and reduction recommendations in the 10 Percent Reduction Proposal below reflect the agency’s best ideas about how to ensure continued gains in the Texas public education system while at the same time reducing costs.
10 Percent Reduction Proposal
Administrator’s Statement
Governor Perry and state legislative leaders in January 2010 asked each state agency to compile a list of state-funded programs that could be cut to produce a five percent budget reduction for the 2009-2010 budget year. Proposed budget cuts to the Texas Education Agency appropriations total about $135 million.
