2013 Accountability System Development
Timeline

The following timeline provides dates for accountability advisory group meetings and key events related to the development of the new accountability system. Some dates are approximate and subject to change.

2011

 

   October 24 -
   November 14
Superintendents and ESC Directors submitted nominees to serve on the Accountability Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC).
   December 21 Educators selected to serve on ATAC received notification.

2012

 

   January

Members selected for the Academic Achievement Distinction Designation Committee (AADDC).

   January

Members selected for the Accountability Policy Advisory Committee (APAC).
   March 5 First joint meeting of APAC and ATAC
   March 6 First meeting of ATAC
   March 26-29 STAAR Testing (grades 3-8 and EOC)
   April 16 First meeting of the AADDC
   April 24 EOC Standards Approved by Commissioner
   April 24-27 STAAR Testing (grades 3-8)
   May 7-18 STAAR Testing (EOC)

   May 30

Second meeting of the ATAC

   June 8 EOC results available with standards

   June 28

Graduation and dropout data available to districts

   June 25

Second meeting of AADDC

   August 8

Preliminary district and campus AYP status for 2012 released to public

   August 29 Third meeting of ATAC
   October 22 Third and final meeting of AADDC
   November 5 Second joint meeting of APAC and ATAC

   November 6

Fourth meeting of ATAC
   November STAAR (grades 3-8) standards approved by commissioner
   November 2011-12 AEIS reports released

   December

Final district and campus AYP status for 2012 released to public

2013

 

   January 8 83rd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature convenes
   January STAAR (grades 3-8) results from spring 2012 available with standards

   February 11-12

Fifth meeting of the ATAC

   March 7

Third meeting of APAC

   March

Commissioner releases final decisions for 2013 accountability ratings and distinctions

   May

Key chapters of 2013 Accountability Manual released

   May 27 Last day of 83rd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature

   Early June

Graduation and dropout data available to districts

   August 8

District and campuses ratings are released, based on percent proficient indicator. Some distinction designations are assigned to campuses.

   August 8

Ratings may be appealed.

   Late September

Appeals Panel meets to consider appeals.

   October

Commissioner determines final ratings; ratings updated.

   November Release of 2012-13 Performance Reports.

2014

 

   February/March

Annual meeting of the ATAC and APAC.

   March

Commissioner releases final decisions for 2014 ratings

   May

Key chapters of 2014 Accountability Manual released.

   Early June

Graduation and dropout data available to districts

   June 15

Notification reports issued to districts for campuses rated as “unacceptable*” in 2013 that are anticipated to be rated as “unacceptable*” in 2014.

   August 8

Release of district and campus performance ratings based on percent proficient and percent college-ready indicators. Some distinction designations are assigned to districts and campuses.

   August 8

Ratings may be appealed.

   Late September

Appeals Panel meets to consider appeals

   Early October

Commissioner determines final ratings; ratings updated.

   November Release of 2013-14 Performance Reports.

* Actual rating labels for 2013 and beyond have not been determined.
