of School Board Member Training
Independent School Districts

The Governance Division provides registration for external providers of school board training. In this context, "external providers" refers to individuals who are not school district personnel training their own board members. This site contains information on the state law which requires continuing education for local school district boards of trustees; the current State Board of Education rules on continuing education for local school district boards of trustees; an application form for registration as a provider for school board member continuing education; information on commendation of board-superintendent teams for completion of continuing education as a complete board-superintendent team; the State Board of Education's Framework for School Board Development; a chart on the annual required hours of continuing education for school board members under current State Board of Education rules, 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 61.1, Continuing Education for School Board Members; and a list of school board training contacts.
