II. Educational Environment of Students with Disabilities Receiving Special Education Services

States are required to report the educational environment or placement to the U.S. Department of Education each year as part of the Annual Federal Data Report. The State collects this data on the last Friday in October (Fall Snapshot Date) through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).

The State developed a "crosswalk" in order to map how Texas PEIMS Instructional Arrangement Codes align to the federal definitions for Educational Environments for students ages 6-21. Definitions for the PEIMS Instructional Arrangements are in the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook

Children with disabilities who received education programs in homebound/hospital environment includes children with disabilities placed in and receiving special education and related services in: hospital programs, or homebound programs.
