EIS Data Collection Requirements and Process

A district may choose to develop and maintain coordinated, early intervening services under 34 CFR 300.226. If a district chooses to provide early intervening services, the district must annually report to the State educational agency on:

A district may chose to budget an amount up to but not exceeding 15% of their federal formula special education funds for the purpose of EIS. Once maximum entitlements are released, a district may choose to increase the amount budgeted for EIS to 15% of the maximum entitlement.

The EIS data collection will take place through the special education funding application submitted in the spring of 2008. Instructions for completing the data collection for EIS funds will be further explained in the administrators’ guide of the 2008-09 special education funding application.
