Provision of Related Services for Students with Disabilities
One of the greatest challenges currently facing Texas in regard to the delivery of services for students with disabilities is the prevalence of inconsistent and inaccurate information. Two guidance documents have been created to provide information and guidance to parents, district staff, and other interested stakeholders regarding the provision of related services.
Technical Assistance
Education Service
Centers
Texas is divided into 20 geographic regions. Each regional ESC will provide
leadership, training, and technical assistance in the area of special education
for students with disabilities in accordance with the Texas Education Agency's
focus on increasing student achievement. Each regional ESC will continue to
serve as first point of contact for school districts, parents, and other community
stakeholders.
Parent Training and Information
Centers
Parent centers in each state provide training and information to parents of
infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and young adults with disabilities
and the professionals who work with their families. This assistance helps parents
participate more effectively with professionals in meeting the educational needs
of children and youth with disabilities.
