Federal Monitoring
The U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) assesses state's compliance in the implementation of Parts B and C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The current system of federal monitoring is the OSEP Continuous Improvement Process. Texas has been involved in the federal monitoring process since May 2000. In response to the monitoring, the State has developed the Texas Continuous Improvement Process (TCIP). The TCIP is focused on improvement and improved results for students with disabilities.
