SUBJECT: High School Allotment Exceptional Uses Nominations

In accordance with the Texas Education Code §39.233(a)(3), the commissioner of education shall annually select for recognition those school districts and campuses that offer exceptional high school completion and success and college readiness programs that are implemented with high school allotment funds. To identify districts and campuses for this recognition, the High School Allotment Advisory Group has recommended the following guidelines and selection criteria be used.

To Be Nominated:

Districts may self-nominate either the district or a campus within the district by completing the attached form for submission by Monday, March 4, 2011. Districts selected last year may self-nominate again this year. Districts must nominate themselves to compete in one of the following categories:

  1. Preparing students for college readiness;
  2. Increasing graduation rates;
  3. Improving curriculum alignment or preparing students for successful transition from middle school to high school or from high school to college;
  4. Implementing innovative high school completion and success programs or strategies.

To Be Selected:

Nominees representing large, medium and small districts will be reviewed and evaluated based on the quality of their responses on the Nomination/Selection form powered by SurveyMonkey at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7BGZCMM. To be eligible, forms must be submitted online by Monday, March 4, 2011. Any questions regarding the nomination process should be directed to the attention of:
