To The Administrator Addressed: Subject: Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) Survey The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is conducting a short survey on the impact that Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) has on preparing students for post-secondary success. The electronic survey, available at https://landry.tea.state.tx.us/TEA_Survey/Curriculum/IPC2009/IPC Survey 2009.htm through January 7, 2010, consists of 10 questions and should take only a few minutes to complete. Although this survey is voluntary, your district’s participation is appreciated. As part of its consideration of graduation requirements, the State Board of Education (SBOE) has requested input from Texas educators and parents regarding the IPC curriculum. The results of the survey will be reported to the SBOE prior to their next meeting, scheduled for January 12-15, 2010, and are expected to help inform final SBOE decisions regarding the Recommended High School Program (RHSP) and the current plans to phase out IPC as a means of satisfying the science requirements of the RHSP. No identifying information from any individual will be provided to the SBOE; only aggregate survey results will be shared. Please share the link to the IPC survey with your science teachers, curriculum coordinators, counselors, administrators, parents, and others who have been involved in the implementation of IPC as a science course. Please direct any questions regarding the survey to Kelly Callaway, Acting Foundation Curriculum Director, at kelly.callaway@tea.state.tx.us or (512) 463-9581. Sincerely,
Robert Scott RS/kc Link to IPC Survey: https://landry.tea.state.tx.us/TEA_Survey/Curriculum/IPC2009/IPC Survey 2009.htm |
