TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

Subject:  Top 10 Percent Scholarship Incentive Program

The Texas Education Agency is pleased to provide the attached information prepared by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) for the 2009 Top 10 Percent Scholarship Incentive Program.  Please forward this information to the high school principals, counselors, and staff responsible for assisting students in obtaining higher education scholarships.

The 80th Texas Legislature appropriated this funding as an incentive to encourage students with a financial need who graduate in the top 10 percent of the spring 2009 graduating class to attend a Texas public institution of higher education.  Students must follow the detailed application process described in the attachments.  Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds have been spent.
If you have any questions, please contact either of the following THECB staff:

I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and thank you for your commitment to excellence in education.

Sincerely,
Robert Scott
Commissioner of Education
