TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

Technology is a key priority for all of us as we help prepare our students to be successful in the technological world of the 21st century. School administrators can play a key role in this effort by enhancing their own technology skills, and as such, I would like to call your attention to a cutting-edge technology training that is available through the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA)/Texas Leadership Center.

The Technology Leadership Academy is a hands-on, comprehensive four-day seminar designed specifically for superintendents and principals. One of its primary purposes is to increase technology knowledge and skills of administrators, including how to support integration of technology in the classroom.

Technology Leadership Academies are scheduled at locations throughout all twenty education service center regions at various times. The attached one-page flyer provides additional information about the academies. You may also wish to visit the TASA website at www.tasanet.org/TechConf/ .

If you have not already participated in the Academy during the past two years, I strongly encourage you to register for an upcoming Technology Leadership Academy. Also, please share this information with other eligible administrators in your district. If you have any questions about the academies, please do not hesitate to contact Ellen Bell or Brettany Rhodes, TASA, at 1-800-725-8272 or e-mail Ellen Bell at Ebell@TASAnet.org.

Sincerely,

Felipe Alanis
Commissioner of Education
