SUBJECT: Revised Deadline to Apply for 2009-2011Special Education/IDEA-B ARRA/Stimulus Maximum Entitlements and/or to Amend Existing Budgets

Revised Deadline to Apply for Maximum Entitlements
This letter serves as notice that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is revising the deadline for grantees to submit amendments to incorporate 2009–2011 IDEA-B ARRA/Stimulus maximum entitlement funding and/or to amend existing budgets for the 2009-2011 IDEA-B ARRA/Stimulus Grant Application. July 1, 2011, was the amendment deadline published in grant documentation and in TEA correspondence dated April 27, 2010. The new deadline to apply for IDEA-B ARRA maximum entitlements and/or to amend existing budgets is 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday, May 2, 2011.

TEA is implementing the revised amendment deadline in order to ensure that local educational agencies (LEAs) have sufficient time to expend their IDEA-B ARRA funds prior to the September 30, 2011, end of the grant period. IDEA-B ARRA funds cannot be obligated or expended after September 30, 2011. All goods and services must be received in time to substantially benefit the grant period and absolutely no later than September 30, 2011.

LEAs are encouraged to amend their IDEA-B ARRA/Stimulus Grant Application as soon as possible, but no later than May 2, 2011, to claim maximum entitlements and/or to amend existing budgets. Maximum entitlement amounts for the 2009-2011 IDEA-B ARRA/Stimulus Grant are available at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index4.aspx?id=5040&menu_id=2147483678.
