INFORMATION ON THE IB STUDENT TEST FEE REIMBURSEMENT Student test fee reimbursement for the International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations will be paid directly to International Baccalaureate North America (IBNA) following verification of tests taken by both the individual IB campuses and IB in Cardiff. The Texas Education Agency will pay $30 for all student examinations and $45 of all examinations taken by students with financial need (as indicated on the appropriate IB forms.) After verification of the number of examinations taken by students at each campus, the agency will submit payment to IBNA for the total amount from all Texas schools. IBNA will provide a credit toward the next year's fees for each campus. If campuses/districts collected the full cost of the exam from the student, the amount of the reimbursement must be returned to the student. The example below should clarify the process that will be used. 1. In June 2000, IBNA will inform us of how many examinations were taken by each IB campus in Texas and how many were taken by students with financial need. (Example: Hood High School-20 exams; Hyatt High School-four exams, two taken by students with financial need; Foose High School-125 exams. Total-149 exams) 2. TEA will send IBNA a check for $4,500 (147 x $30 + 2 x $45) and a letter telling IBNA to credit Hood High School with $600 (20 exams x $30), Hyatt High School with $150 (2 exams x $30 and 2 exams x $45), and Foose High School with $3750 (125 exams x $30). The campus and district also will get a letter telling them what the amount of credit will be. 3. IBNA will notify you of the amount of credit you have. 4. Campuses that required that students pay the entire examination fee will reimburse students for their expenses. Campuses that reduced the cost of examinations by $30 or $45 will use this reduction in its future IBNA expenses (Example: Hood High School charged students $50 per exam. They will contact the five students who took 4 exams each and reimburse each of them $120. Foose High School charged its students $20 per exam. They will send IBNA a check of $4050 for its annual registration fee ($7800-$3750=$4050). 5. Next year the same process is used. |
