Subject: Survey on School Guidance and Counseling Programs

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) in partnership with the Harris County Department of
Education (HCDE), Texas Counseling Association (TCA), and the 20 Regional Education
Service Centers is currently updating the Texas Counseling Guide, A Model Comprehensive,
Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program for Texas Public Schools, [TEC 33.005J, 4th
edition. Toward that purpose, HCDE has developed a web-based survey to collect information
from school counselors and administrators to identify suggested changes.

Please forward this email to each school counselor and administrator on your staff and
encourage them to participate in this very important survey. Additionally, you are also
encouraged to participate. The deadline for completing the online survey is November 20, 2009. The
survey and instructions for completion of the survey are located online at
http://survey.hcde-texas.org/mrIWeb/mrIWeb.dll?I.Project=TEASURVEY.

A copy of the Texas Counseling Guide, A Model Comprehensive, Developmental Guidance and
Counseling Program for Texas Public Schools, [TEC 33.005], 4th edition is located online for
free at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=4207 or can be purchased in print from the
TCA at www.txca.org. If you, a school counselor, or an administrator has questions or would like
to obtain a PDF version of the survey, please contact:
