TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED

SUBJECT: Texas Library Connection

The enrollment period to participate in the Texas Library Connection (TLC) opens October 1, 1999. If your district is already enrolled in the TLC, this is your opportunity to add any of your campuses not yet enrolled. If your district is not currently enrolled, this is your opportunity to enroll both your district and your campuses and to provide your students with access to outstanding electronic resources valued at approximately $7,000 per campus. Those resources are provided through the statewide technology initiative, TLC, at no charge to your district.

Please ensure the enclosed packet of information is forwarded to the person responsible for your libraries. If you wish, that person may complete the entire enrollment process.

To determine the enrollment status of your district and your campuses, please check the Texas Education Agency web site at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/technology/libraries/, Membership Information, Who's In?

Enrollment to participate will be accepted October 1, 1999, through January 15, 2000, or until the funds budgeted for this purpose are expended. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

An explanation of the Texas Library Connection, electronic resources available through the TLC, criteria for participation, and enrollment form examples are included within the enclosed newsletter. That information is also available on the Texas Education Agency's web site at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/technology/libraries/ and from your education service center's TLC contact.

If you have any questions about the Texas Library Connection and the enrollment process, please contact your education service center's TLC contact. Those names are available on the TEA/TLC web site mentioned above. You may also call Gloria McClanahan at (512) 475-3255 or Mary Lankford at (512) 936-2263.

I sincerely hope that your district is able to take advantage of this opportunity at this time.

Sincerely,
Ann Smisko
Associate Commissioner
