November 8, 1999 TO THE SUPERINTENDENT ADDRESSED: SUBJECT: New PEIMS Under- and Over-Reported Student Leaver Reports In response to school district requests, I am pleased to announce the addition of an under-reported student leaver and an over-reported student leaver report to the current data review reports generated by TEA Information Systems using district PEIMS fall data submissions. Sample copies of these reports are attached for your information. As you know, a package of data review reports is generated from each PEIMS submission and sent to you for use as a quality assurance tool by the district. The first set of reports is generated from the districts initial PEIMS submission and sent for use in correcting data for resubmission prior to the scheduled resubmission deadline. Districts who choose to resubmit their data then receive an adjusted set of reports for their records. Information Systems staff developed these new reports in conjunction with staff from the agency's Research and Evaluation Division. The under-reported student leaver report will list all students who were reported as either enrolled, non-enrolled, or in attendance in the district the previous school year, but not enrolled or reported as a leaver in the district's current fall submission. The over-reported student leaver report will list all students reported as leavers in the district's current fall submission, but not reported in either district attendance, enrollment or non-enrollment records during the previous year. The data derived from these reports will be maintained by TEA in a statewide table for agency staff use in computing dropout statistics and data quality monitoring of PEIMS leaver reporting. If you have any questions concerning these new reports, please contact Faye Gonzalez, TEA PEIMS Coordinator, at (512) 463-5313. Sincerely, |
