Enclosed is a document confirming the standards for the 2000 accountability ratings and acknowledgments in advance of the publication of the 2000 Accountability Manual to be published this spring.  Although most of the standards for the 2000 accountability ratings and additional acknowledgments have already been published in the 1999 Accountability Manual, there are changes not previously published. 

Standards for the accountability system in 2001 and beyond are not included in this document.  The agency will initiate an intensive development process this spring for that purpose.  New legislation passed in 1999 has significantly added to the options for indicators to be used for ratings purposes.  Educators will have the opportunity to respond to options being considered before any final decisions are made next summer.
