June 6, 2007 TO THE SUPERINTENDENT ADDRESSED: Subject: 2006-07 Total Tax Collections Enclosed is the annual Tax Collection Certification form to be used for reporting the amount of taxes that have been collected to date and any additional taxes estimated to be collected through the end of the district fiscal year. Because of the potential for districts to be on an alternate fiscal calendar, the instructions listed below should be followed based on the situation for your specific district:
This year we are asking about the value of your property that is subject to frozen levies in accordance with Section 11.26, Tax Code, and the amount of taxes collected on those properties for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 school years. We are also asking for your estimates of these amounts for the 2007-08 school year. In addition, we are asking you to provide information about taxes paid to a Tax Increment Zone under Chapter 311, Tax Code in 2005-06 and 2006-07 as well as the estimated payments for 2007-08. We hope to use this data to assist us in the implementation of legislation that was authorized during both the 80th Legislature, Regular Session, that just ended and during the 79th Legislature, Third Called Session that occurred in the spring of 2006. In order to better estimate the amount of settle-up for the 2006-07 school year, we are requesting that this form be completed and returned to us in a timely manner. Please return the completed form to the Division of State Funding no later than July 2, 2007.
