General Error Correction Information
It is also helpful that you ensure your correct contact information is provided when making a PID correction request. TEA will typically use the contact info listed in the "last updated by" field in the PET record and information available within Edit+ should TEA need to contact you for additional information about your change request. Below are helpful guidelines:
- Districts are encouraged to work together...communicate
- Districts are encouraged to submit data as soon as possible
- Districts should be familiar with the deadlines for getting manual corrections to TEA
- There may be a delay in processing of Social Security conflicts - districts should be given enough lead time to correct their data before TEA gives their student a "T". A "T" is a temporary number that has been assigned to a student record that is incorrectly using a disputed Social Security Number (SSN). It is the SSN with the first number replaced with the letter "T"
- Keep in mind minor demographics - particularly ethnicity, do not count towards a districts overall PID error rate, even though a warning message is given on the PID Error report
- Keep in mind a district can make changes to minor demographics even if a student is in PID more than once
- With higher volume of corrections, we suggest districts clearly indicate a contact person for follow up questions the PID coordinator might have
- During PEIMS submissions, the PID coordinator will rely on contact information in EDIT+ when TEA needs to send an email to a district. Please make sure the individual listed in the 'last updated by' column on a student's PET record is the person who can answer questions via email or forward them to the appropriate staff
