At Texas High School (111-111-001), students are permitted beginning in the 11th grade to participate in a dual credit program allowing them to earn up to 12 hours of college credit before graduating from high school. Texas High School allows these dual credit courses to occur in either the regular school year or the summer between school years. For the 2011-2012 school year the following courses are taken.
Bobby Student (11th grade) took English III during the fall semester and World Geography in the spring semester at the local community college. Bobby passed English III and failed World Geography. Bobby then took World Geography again in the summer at the local community college and passed the course.
Jeffery Student (12th grade) took English IV and World History in the summer at the local community college. Jeffery passed both classes during summer school.
Melinda Student (11th grade) took Geometry during the summer at Texas High School in order to get ahead on her high school credits and take additional math courses during the next school year. The Geometry class was taught by Mr. Teacher at the Texas High School campus.
