Subject:  Final Status - 2011 Alternative Education Accountability (AEA) Registration

TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

The Final 2011 Registered Alternative Education Campus (AEC) List and the Final List of 2011 Charter Operators Evaluated Under AEA Procedures are available on the AEA website at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/aea/.

Final 2011 AEA Campus Registration Status

Each of the campuses on the Final 2011 Registered AEC List have 2010-11 Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) fall enrollment data and meet the 75% at-risk registration criterion.  As a result, these AECs will receive an AEA rating on July 29, 2011.

The AEA at-risk registration criterion and final AEA campus registration status are available on the Texas Education Agency Secure Environment (TEASE) Accountability website.  This TEASE product provides detailed results of the AEA at-risk registration criterion including current and prior-year at-risk enrollment percentages, safeguards applied, and the accountability procedures under which each registered AEC will be evaluated.

Districts with AECs registered for evaluation under 2011 AEA procedures should log onto the TEASE Accountability website to review the at-risk registration criterion results for each registered AEC in their district.

·         Log onto TEASE at: https://seguin.tea.state.tx.us//apps/logon.asp

If you already have access to TEASE Accountability, you will see ACCT – Accountability listed as one of the web applications available.  Launching ACCT – Accountability takes you into the site.  From there, click on the AEA tab where the 2011 AEA At-Risk Registration Criterion is available.

·         Superintendents who do not have TEASE Accountability access must request a TEASE username and password by accessing the TEASE Applications Reference Page at:

http://www.tea.state.tx.us/webappaccess/AppRef.htm

Also go to this reference page if you have forgotten or wish to reset your TEASE password.  If you are unsure if you already have TEASE access and/or if you have forgotten your TEASE username, email TEA Security at security@tea.state.tx.us.

Charter Operators Evaluated Under 2011 AEA Procedures

Charters that operate only registered AECs are evaluated automatically under AEA procedures.  Charters that operate both standard campuses and registered AECs have the option to be evaluated under AEA procedures if at least 50% of the charter’s students are enrolled at registered AECs (enrollment is verified through current-year PEIMS fall enrollment data).  Charters that operate both standard campuses and registered AECs are evaluated under standard accountability procedures if fewer than 50% of the charter’s students are enrolled at registered AECs.

Questions

The AEA campus registration requirements and at-risk registration criterion are detailed in Part 2 of the Accountability Manual.  Any clarifying questions regarding this email may be directed to the Division of Performance Reporting at (512) 463-9704 or performance.reporting@tea.state.tx.us.
