TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

Subject: College Tuition and Partial Fee Exemption for Educational Aides

The Texas Education Agency is pleased to provide the attached information prepared by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) for the 2010 College Tuition and Partial Fee Exemption for Educational Aides Program. The purpose of the program is to encourage educational aides to complete full teacher certification by providing need-based exemptions from the payment of tuition and certain mandatory fees at Texas public institutions of higher education.

Please forward this information to persons employed in your school district as educational aides, substitute teachers, and school employees who within the past five years have been employed for at least one school year as a full-time educational aide. "Educational aides" are aides working in the classroom directly with students.

If you have any questions, please contact the THECB staff at Grants and Special Programs Office by electronic Edaide@thecb.state.tx.us or telephone, 1-800-242-3062 (in Austin 512-427-6340) press option 3.

I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and thank you for your commitment to excellence in education.

Sincerely,

Robert Scott
Commissioner of Education
