Subject:     Proposed Standards for Disciplinary Alternative Education Programs

The Division of Educator Initiatives from the Texas Education Agency will be presenting a Chapter 37/PEIMS 425 update TETN on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  This update will include clarification for administrators and staff seeking additional information concerning discipline, law and order under the Texas Education Code and related requirements.  Information will also be available on the 2011-2012 PEIMS Data Standards Appendix E:  Additional Information Related to Discipline Action Reason Codes.

Best practices in Disciplinary Alternative Education Programs currently utilized in Texas schools that can be linked to increased levels of student success will also be addressed. The areas of discussion will include behavioral practices, instructional practices, transition practices, and staffing practices.
