FORMULA FUNDING AVAILABLE

July 7, 2010

TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

SUBJECT: 2009-2011 Statewide Longitudinal Data System Grant Application

The 2009-2011 Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) LEA Grant Application opened in eGrants on June 28, 2010.

Eligible Applicants
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is making funding available from the SLDS grant to help offset districts’ costs to collect and report classroom-level data for students and staff through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).

TEA has made arrangements to pay Education Service Center (ESC) 20 directly to make any required changes to their student information systems and PEIMS extract programs and not charge their school district customers for these changes. Therefore, school districts that use the Regional Service Center Computer Cooperative (RSCCC), Internet-based Texas Computer Cooperative Software (iTCCS), or Texas Enterprise Information Software (TxEIS) for their student information system software are not eligible to apply for the SLDS grant. All remaining school districts and open-enrollment charter schools may apply provided they have received a 2009-2011 allocation for the SLDS grant.

Project Period
The application will be effective on the date that it is received by TEA.  Pre-award costs will be allowed for the SLDS grant back to December 1, 2009.  Pre-award costs will be allowed once requested and approved by TEA as reflected in the grant application.

Allocations
Allocations for the 2009-2011 SLDS grant are available at http:ritter.tea.state.tx.us/opge/formfund/generalinformation/entitlementsbyprogram.html

How to Apply
Eligible applicants must apply through the eGrants system. To apply, applicants must have appropriate TEA Secure Environment (TEA SE) access. Applicants who do not have TEA SE access for eGrants should visit the TEA SE Information Center online at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/opge/egrant/index.html. An overview of the TEA SE online request process can be found at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/opge/egrant/eGrantsOverview.pdf. If you need further assistance, please contact the eGrants Help Desk by telephone at (512) 463-7025 or via e-mail at egrants@tea.state.tx.us.

Deadline to Apply
Eligible applicants must apply through the eGrants system by 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday, August 2, 2010. No exceptions will be made to the deadline date. Applications are effective on the date they are received in TEA in substantially approvable form or on December 1, 2009, whichever is later.
