August 25, 2010 Formula Funding SUBJECT: Application for 2010-2011 Student Success Initiative Grant TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED: The application for the 2010-2011 Student Success Initiative Grant (SSIG) will be available in eGrants on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Eligible ApplicantsEligible applicants are independent school districts and open-enrollment charter schools with grade 3 students who did not pass the 2010 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) reading section during the first administration and grade 5 students who did not pass the 2010 TAKS mathematics section during the first administration. Purpose of ProgramThe purpose of this program is to provide transitional financial assistance to Texas independent school districts and open-enrollment charters during the second post-Accelerated Reading Instruction/Accelerated Math Instruction school year. For the 2010-2011 school year, funding is provided for interventions for struggling students in grades K-12. AllocationsSSIG allocations are posted online at the TEA Grant Opportunities Web site (http://burleson.tea.state.tx.us/GrantOpportunities/forms/). In the Formula Funding Toolbox, click the link to “Entitlements by Program.” Deadline to ApplyThe deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Friday, October 15, 2010. How to ApplyThe SSIG application is available through the eGrants system, online at https://seguin.tea.state.tx.us/apps/logon.asp. A Texas Education Agency Secure Environment (TEA SE) username and password are required to log on to eGrants. If you do not have a TEA SE username and password, visit http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/opge/egrant/index.html. Reporting DeadlinesReporting deadlines for the 2010-2011 SSIG are listed in the following table. Grantees are responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Failure to meet deadlines may result in loss of funds and could cause the grantee to be identified as “high risk.”
