SUBJECT: Request for Application for Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Program (CSRD) Improving Teaching and Learning Grants (ITL) (RFA #701-00-050)

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is requesting applications from local education agencies (LEAs), including Open-Enrollment Public Charter Schools and Shared Service Arrangements (SSAs) of LEAs on behalf of campuses across the state, to implement effective comprehensive school reforms that are based on reliable research and effective practices that result in improved student performance for all students.

To request a complete copy of Improving Teaching and Learning (RFA #701-00-050), call the TEA Document Control Center at (512) 463-9304 or FAX at (512) 463-9811. Please refer to the RFA number and title in your request. Provide your name, complete mailing address, and phone number including area code. The RFA is also available by e-mailing dcc@tea.state.tx.us or writing to the following address:

The complete RFA will be posted on the TEA website at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/grant/announcements/grants2.cgi for viewing and downloading. An application must be received in the Document Control Center of the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Friday, December 15, 2000, to be considered for funding.

Attached is a summary of the CSRD/ITL Grant Program and a workshop schedule for those campuses interested in applying for the grant.
