TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

SUBJECT: Texas College Preparation Program (TCPP) Assessments

The purpose of this communication is to notify school districts and charter schools of the availability of state-funded grade 10 college readiness assessments for the 2011-2012 school year as part of the Texas College Preparation Program (TCPP). Please note that funding for grade 8 college readiness assessments and grade 11 college entrance examinations is not available for 2011-2012.

The TCPP was first implemented in 2009-2010 to provide state-funded college readiness assessments and college entrance examinations for students in grades 8, 10, and 11 and to provide public school districts and charter schools data on college readiness in order to help inform instructional decisions.

Priority for state-funded grade 10 college readiness assessments will be given to districts and charter schools that already have a TCPP District Participation Agreement (DPA) on file with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Districts and charter schools that do not have a DPA on file with the TEA may be eligible to participate in grade 10 TCPP testing to the extent that funding is available. Participation agreements completed with an approved vendor are not a substitute for the TEA District Participation Agreement. Individual schools may not choose a test vendor different from the one chosen by the district. For questions regarding DPAs or to submit a DPA, please contact TCPP program staff at CollegePrepProgram@tea.state.tx.us.

In order to facilitate the analysis of college readiness data provided by the assessments, participating districts and charter schools are expected to use the vendor indicated on the participant’s DPA on file with the TEA. The two approved vendors for the program are ACT, Inc. and The College Board. Orders for the grade 10 assessments must be placed directly with one of the two approved vendors.

Questions related to the TCPP and state-funded grade 10 college readiness assessments may be directed to the Curriculum Division at CollegePrepProgram@tea.state.tx.us or
(512) 463-9581.

Sincerely,
