Example 2-ADD

**W9100011 Error on Add-SSN/ALT-ID did not match but demographics matched

Question: I have a question about PID errors my district has received on students who have left out district. Our district submitted PEIMS data on three students that we enrolled using state assigned identification numbers (example: S12, S13, S14, etc.). These students withdrew after the fall submission and went to another school district. The new district enrolled these three students with Social Security numbers and reported the change through PEIMS during the summer submission. My district received PID errors on these three students when we submitted our summer PEIMS data. The discrepancy report says Error on ADD, but the district is not adding a new student; just reporting the students' attendance from the fall semester.

Answer: The new district these students are now attending must have submitted a prior ID change on the students. Why is the district that reported the students in the fall getting PID errors on these three students? When the new district reported the three students, they updated the students' state assigned numbers to Social Security numbers by submitting a 105 record (prior ID). The new district should have checked the students' PET data and provided your district notification that they were changing the identification number so you could update your local information. This change to the students' records in the PID database has caused a mismatch with the students' data your districts submitted. This is the reason your district now sees the three students listed on a Discrepancy report. The error can be fixed by updating your district's information on these three students to match what is now in the PID database. Your district may also leave the information as is and notate the reason for the PID errors.
